Title I Supplemental Educational Services
Overview
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended recently as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), provides funding to school districts with high numbers of children from low-income families. The added federal funding helps to ensure that all students are learning and meeting state-level academic standards.
Title I is important because it provides students with a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, high-quality education that, in turn, helps to close educational achievement gaps.
Program Elements include:- Needs assessment and program plan design
- Parent involvement
- Services to students enrolled in private schools
- High-quality teachers and para-educators
- Coordination of services for homeless students in non-Title I schools
- Support for Title I focus and priority schools
- Comparability
